How can we use the world’s resources to best help others? How can we tackle some of the world’s most pressing problems, including ending global poverty and factory farming, mitigating technological risks, preventing future pandemics, and stopping climate change? How can Carnegie Mellon students find fulfilling and impactful careers?

98-019 — “Effective Altruism: How Can We Do the Most Good” is a semester-long StuCo designed to engage students with the core concepts of the EA community. Discuss key heuristics for evaluating the impact of a career choice, expanding one’s moral circle, preventing existential catastrophes, and becoming a more rational decision-maker in this seminar-style course.
